COTE DE TEXAS: Segreto Finishes on The Skirted Roundtable - November 4, 2011

Joni Webb:  This week the Skirted Roundtable welcomes Leslie Sinclair, who owns Houston based Segreto Finishes.  Segreto specializes in paint finishes applied to walls, ceilings, and cabinets.  These finishes include a newly engineered stucco application, glazes, murals, and faux paint jobs.   Many houses I have shown in the past four years have been those where Segreto applied their magic.  And magical is exactly what their finishes are…

There is no way to adequately depict how beautiful Leslie’s finishes are in a photograph.  You almost have to experience them firsthand to truly understand their worth.   The finishes are subtle and textural – wrapping the room in a soft color while adding an air of sophistication... But, recently on her blog, HERE, Leslie showed a townhouse that is owned by a former employee of Segreto.  The townhouse is now for sale for $385,000 – and is located in the Rice Military Section.   The paint finishes in this townhouse are gorgeous – and one can truly see what a difference her touch can bring to house, no matter what size it.   Since this house is more affordable than many of the Segreto’s usual million-plus customs, one can look at these photographs and imagine how one’s own house might look if given the Segreto touch.   This difference is amazing to me. THE SKIRTED ROUNTABLE:  October 31, 2011

Joni Webb:   ...Leslie explained all the different paint finishes that are currently in vogue.  Paint is very trendy - the bright and garish faux treatments of the 80s and 90s have disappeared in favor of very subtle treatments that provide more of a texture instead of color.  Leslie is a real dyamo - a successful business owner, a mother and wife, and now an author!  She is adorable, and very, very sweet.  She tells us how she went from working in the coroporate world to starting a small paint company that today is a very large one that employs over 25 people! COTE DE TEXAS: West U Home Tour–One More! - Sept. 7, 2011

Joni Webb:  OMG, OMG – Leslie Sinclair surprised me today with a copy of her new book and I was floored.  It is without a doubt the prettiest design book I’ve seen in ages!!!   Prettier than any other design book I could name.  I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it. [Read Post]

COTE DE TEXAS: Two In Houston - Jan. 17, 2011

Joni Webb: If you live in Houston, you may have seen these two homes already...  Both houses are quite beautiful and reflective of the “Houston look,” although one house is dressier than the other…  The second house is in the Memorial area… The walls were plastered by Leslie Sinclair of Segretro  Finishes.  Leslie’s wall treatments are unparalleled – the subtle texture adds a depth to the walls that adds a quality that is hard to define.  I would love for Leslie to do my entire house – her plaster is just that gorgeous!!!! COTE DE TEXAS: Seagrass-Free Zone - May 1, 2010

Joni Webb:  The first project that Matt Camron rugs are seen is the Houston Pink Ribbon Showcase house which benefits breast cancer research at Baylor College of Medicine… All wall finishes in the Pink Ribbon house are by Segreto Finishes owned by the uber-talented and very sweet Leslie Sinclair. COTE DE TEXAS: The Tile House - May 16, 2009

Joni Webb: …In the master bathroom, a spectacular vanity designed by Maria Tracy is the focal point.  Notice the gorgeous curves, the feet, the arched towers – just beautiful!   The man’s vanity is reflected in the mirror.   All the cabinetry was  painted by Segreto Finishes whom you may remember also painted the Octagon House!   I love the hardware on this piece – just perfect. COTE DE TEXAS: The Octagon Home - March 2, 2009

Joni Webb: I HATE Showcase houses!  But, every so often, I go to a Showcase and then come home and want to take a bomb to my house and blow it to smithereens and start all over again… The star though was the paint job, an incredible, beautiful plaster by Segreto Finishes with the talented and adorable Leslie Sinclair at the helm.  Leslie does faux painting for the 21st century – it’s not your mother’s faux.  It’s subtle and adds such a richness to a house.   If you’ve ever considered doing Venetian plaster, this house was the place to see it done right, matte, not shiny – just gorgeous!
