
Elizabeth Munger, an interior designer from Houston, emailed me with a few pictures of some kitchen renos for the Readers Kitchens series… Segreto did the plaster ceiling and the finishes on the the cabinets and paneling… The family room has a definite French feel to it. After surviving water damage, homeowners Jeff and Shanna decided to do a major renovation. Their home, although beautiful, was a typical "spec" house, traditional in style with white case moldings and granite in the kitchen. Still wanting a warm home that feels inviting and casual, they teamed up with designer Kara Childress and builder Steve Goodchild to accomplish their dream home!!! After living in many different places, homeowner Tracy was excited about the prospect of building her own home and incorporating all the things her family loved about their previous homes as well as some personal touches to make the house suit their lifestyle. Tracy and I had a great time working together on the finishes and surfaces five months before move-in. As soon as she turned her attention to the interiors, a friend introduced her designer Cindy Witmer. I just couldn't wait to see my friend Lisa's rebuild of an original, 1880's homestead on her property in Round Top!!!! I had been lucky enough to go on a shopping spree with Lisa at the previous Marburger Farm Antique Show to shop for the house and couldn't wait to see it all done. I was absolutely amazed to see the final product with all her brilliant work that integrated the home's rich history with some modern country touches. Lisa’s mission in rebuilding the site was to not only provide a space for her growing family to gather but also lovingly restore a little piece of the past that resided on her land. She did a beautiful job saving, restoring and using as many salvageable materials from the original homestead as possible. [Read Post]
