What Segreto’s Been Up to!

We have been busy with so many fun projects that I thought it was time to share! I have had so much fun seeing some of the homes we have worked on, furnished!!

This is a stately, established home where the bones are amazing and the homeowners just wanted an update. The original moldings and floors remained but the walls were coated with plaster in a soothing warm tone. Before, the moldings were white, but toning them to the plaster put focus on the architecture and floors and really showed off this homeowners extensive art collection!! I was privileged to work with designer Susan Blankenship on this one!!!

Going up the stairs is a wonderful collection of sketches; some old, but others I was impressed to learn, were done by the homeowner! What talent she has!!!

The garden room was expanded and wood floors were installed, which we painted!! The borders divided the large space into intermittent seating areas and a wonderful bar!

This piece and the tapestry were the inspiration for the back cabinets. We duplicated the overall finish from the front cabinet and applied a graphic to the back one to complement!

Loving painted floors, I had to share how much this one transformed the small entry way and gave it a “you have arrived feel”! This treatment can go over existing stained floors and hold up to wear and tear.

Stenciling over plaster (a fav technique of mine) can be so dramatic. This bathroom designed by Sarah Patch is no exception!!

Look at the irridescent quality and faded effect it creates! LOVE!!!

With pop colors being all the rage, a detail of gold leaf in the beading of cabinets can be all the punch a space needs! Both inexpensive and effective! More to come on this house from designer, Ellie Bale!

When you combine architect, Ken Newberry, designer, Kara Childress and homeowners together with impeccable taste, something truly remarkable evolves! This home enveloped with our plaster is spectacular.

Purchasing these amazing wood panels and installing them on the ceiling, we were called in to finish the frame. Here is Jeorge stepping back while we figure out the next layer to apply!! The sample is on the left panel right side.

I am constantly amazed and in love with all the effects which plaster can create. Plastering over brick to let some variation show through has totally transformed this space by Sarah West! Imagine how this looked originally with dark brick!

In the same house we plastered over a concrete fireplace! What a clean look!!!

This stone fireplace in a country home in one of my favorite places, Round Top, Texas, didn’t turn out to read exactly like the homeowners wanted. Liking the texture of the brick, we were called in to tone it more to the walls rather than the darker gold tones it currently has.

We used a plaster lime wash technique to totally soften the look while still leaving the texture and look of the natural stone — similar to what I did with the brick on my own home but with plaster!!!

You all know how I am obsessed with giving new doors a special finish! These located at the end of a main hall which lead to a wine room really look dressed up with our aged gray finish! When choosing doors to give a special finish,  pick one where your eye naturally rests when you are looking at a space.

Will you share the product and technique you used on the wine room doos? How to get aged grey?

    • Leslie Sinclair says:

Hi Michelle! We layer a gray base coats with several glazes9paint mixed with glazing liquid), then we distress with umber paint to age. Its kind of like how I cook though, no recipe all colors are mixed on site and we apply tweak and step back and look. So sorry about not being able to give a step by step.

  2. I love working with Segreto on my projects! Thank you for always embracing my ideas and helping them come to fruition! Segreto’s finishes create the perfect canvas for my projects.

  5. Hi Leslie,
Everything you show is always so amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it in Michigan. You told me several months ago the plaster you use and I misplaced where I wrote it down. If you wouldn’t mind sharing again I would appreciate it! Your posts are always an inspiration!

We use so many different types depending on the application but I think I shared USG’s Diamond plaster with you. Have a Happy Holiday and thanks so much for following along!
