Two Entrepreneurial Woman-Two Creative Homes!

Feb 20, 2017

Hi Friends!  We have been inspired by the break and have been working on some new projects at Segreto!!! These two have been super fun as each were spearheaded by super creative entrepreneurial women.

The first home is Susan’s, a long time friend who owns and runs Multiplicity, a venue, boutique and artisan school in Old Town Katy, Texas. Along with hosting weddings and events she and her staff teach group or private lessons on jewelry making, sculpture and a multitude of crafts–what a fun girls night out or mother-daughter activity!  She also has a boutique filled with unique artesian items. It is worth the visit for sure!!

Susan, doing her own design work, wanted different, both from her last home’s more traditional style and with the materials she used. I love this cool art feature made from resin and branches behind her tub!! It is also back lit and looks amazing with the light turned on-sorry I didn’t take that pic!! When you have a showstopper in a room the subtly of the plaster enhances the space while complimenting focal elements.

This dining room, open to the entry, kitchen and den is dressed with a metallic paint with a raised plaster overlay!  With this hand-done technique no two rooms will ever have the same pattern so each client has something truly unique.

Wanting a clean organic look to balance the rustic nature of her mantel, we applied a special plaster which we use for our new SegretoStone tabletop line atop of her fireplace in her master bedroom.  The ledge and base is made like a slab and installed with the face having the same heavy duty lime plaster applied directly on top. After the product is troweled on, it is first honed to bring out the natural aggregate and then polished by hand to achieve a smooth natural and velvety finish.

Loving it so much she opted for the same application in her living room! With the soaring 20 plus foot ceilings it was quite dramatic! I can’t wait to see the art piece she is on a hunt for to hang above the mantel!

In her style of old world meets modern the walls in her back powder were finished like a painting she saw.  Full of texture the walls graduate in color from dark to light!  Susan you were a joy to work with–I can’t wait to show more of your home as you add your finishing touches!

This project was so fun to work on! Designer Chay Taylor was hired by her mother to design her forever family home! With an eclectic New York meets southern style, we plastered the ceilings throughout the house!

I love her mix of contemporary art with transitional and traditional furnishings-warm inviting and super sophisticated!

What a beautiful dining room! To balance the classic wallcovering we enhanced the cabinetry and paneling with a simple finish and embellished the small bead detail with gold leaf!

Flanking the dining room is the formal living!  The same treatment was applied on the paneled walls! Look at the mix of furnishings and accessories, mixing old and new creates a room which feels to be collected over time rather than furnished from one store!

Full of color, this powder is a showstopper! Enhancing the applied bamboo to the custom vanity cabinet, pulls in the gold from the fixtures! We still have ongoing projects in this home and I can’t wait to share the final reveal!

These are both amazing homes and I am loving the fireplace in the first home – so pretty and velvety describes it perfectly! The second home I could move right in – love the plaster ceiling you did and the paneled walls are fabulous! Happy Monday, Leslie ~

Hi, the fireplace is gorgeous! How did you construct the surround? Wanting to do a similar technique for my 70’s brick fireplace, but I’m stick on how to build out the surround to create a mantle. Did you use metal or wood studs under backer board?
