A Colorado Update Part 2!

After months of construction, (see last week's post) we were on our way to install the furnishings. Hubby John, daughter Kirby, and I went up there for a whirlwind 3 days to install all the furnishings and to see the unit in person for the first time. It was especially nerve-racking for me as I was unable to visit the job site during the entire renovation process. All details were relayed by texts and emails. Well hang on, it's quite a change! Here is the entrance before. Welcome ...

Colorado Update!

Hi Friends! I am sorry it has taken so long to update you on the Colorado home!  I really wanted to finish and show you the progression all at one time.  so we have a three week series from start to finish. It definitely is a big change and a totally different look. Remember these pictures of the original townhome we purchased, furniture and all? Although hubby John was thrilled with all the furnishings in the unit, I though it felt dark and a bit claustrophobic. He even loved the torn ...

How to Pick the Best Down Comforter!

While I'm so excited about our new vacation home in Colorado (see the before pics here), it's starting to hit me just how many things you need in order to set up a new house! Pots and pans, glassware, towels, sheets, dishes, shower curtains, cleaning supplies...... and that doesn't even get me started on furniture!!! Lately, I've been focused on getting new bedding, which means I need to buy down comforter inserts. There's such a wide range of prices, depending on fill quality, stitching, ...

I Love That Sample!!! Where Will it Go?

Great Seating Ideas: How to Mix Chair Styles in Dining Rooms!!!

I don't know what it is about mixing chairs in a space, but it has always been one of my true design loves!! Maybe it's my quirky side, but to me, mixing chair styles makes a room so much more interesting! This dining room is one of my all-time favorites! We plastered the room and hand-painted a design inspired by a historical Swedish wall covering. This home by designer Brooke McGuyer is featured in its entirety in Segreto Style!!  The tonal and textural combination of different chairs ...

A Father’s Day Office Makeover!

This year for Father's Day I wanted to give John an extreme office makeover!! It is the last room in the house to be redone and probably the one that needs it the most! My husband works from home, and his office has been basically off limits to decorate because he doesn't want me to touch or move his many stacks! Like most husbands, he hates the chaos of a room redo. Poor thing being married to someone who loves to redo!! To keep the peace, I have always stayed out of his office/man cave! ...

My Dining Room Finale!!!

You got a sneak peek back in December in this post about the artwork I chose, and today I'm so excited to share the completed look! Here's the before! Moving from a traditional look with a Country French flair to a more contemporary style that still incorporates older elements, I was able to ...

Tweaking My Living Room!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Well, due to a tropical storm in Cabo, we ended up canceling the trip just hours before!!  Lucky that we didn't go as we had a pipe break in the house and spent much of the time cleaning and drying out. Unfortunately the room below was affected and we will have to once again redo the floors!! Water and wood just don't mix! I had already written this blog, so I still wanted to share the small tweaks I gave to my living room – keeping much of what I ...
