What Has Segreto Been Up To?

Hi Friends!  I hope you have all had a wonderful week! I wanted to share with you a few transformations we have been working on. I need to get better on the before we start pictures! But... here are some durings and afters! Metal range-hoods are all the range but can be super pricey and have a long lead time to manufacture. In this kitchen we finished for designer Sarah Eilers, the range  was built from wood, and finished to read like real metal. I love the two toned ...

A Tale of Four Projects!!

Hope you are having a wonderful winter! In Houston, it already feels like spring, which definitely puts you in the mood for sprucing up the house!! For inspiration, here are some of the projects we've been doing about town!!! This project has been one of my favorites to date! Though it's a stunning home as is, the owners wanted a total exterior facelift. Rather than going for "new", they wanted something which could meld perfectly if it were placed in the European countryside so we ...

A Remarkable Home!!!

This new construction, built by Goodchild Builders and designed by Rudy Colby, has turned into one of my favorites we completed last year. Designer Nicole Zarr's addition of pops of color and contemporary elements truly makes this Tuscan style home unique!!! The entire home was plastered in warm tones and then the entrance and gallery waxed to set those areas apart! Here you can really see the plaster and what a difference it makes on the upstairs landing! To the right of ...

Last week I showed the before's.  Here is the final reveal! Daughter Kirby likes the changes as much as I do.  So light and bright, this space incorporates organized areas and much more counter space! The previous design had a bar top connected between the post and the window wall, limiting ...

My Laundry Room Makeover!

Have you ever said to yourself, "What was I thinking? When we added on to our home more than 12 years ago, we moved the laundry -- which was right off the kitchen -- to the back new part of the home. I was trying to save both money and a tree, so I decreased the size of the room to half of what was specified. After finishing so many laundry's I wanted to give mine the character and charm that this one has.  With a built-in coffee bar and custom tiles from ADR, builder Patty Barnett and ...

My Pantry Renovation!

With so many great organizational tips from Pinterest and bloggers, I couldn't wait to redo my pantry/bar/butler's area to gain more space. In this "before" photo, the closed door is my original pantry. At no more than 2.5 ft by 3 ft, it was neither big nor efficient. I stored the glassware in the bar and my china in the furniture piece to the right. We decided to combine pantry and bar -- making that one big food pantry -- and to build a new bar/butler's space where the furniture piece ...

A House Update!

Well my house is really moving along! With my dream team of Newberry Campa Architects , Goodchild Builders  and architectural consultant Sarah West, my master suite area is really taking shape!!! I found this picture of the master bath when we purchased the house in 1987! Here is how we changed it way back then! What you can't see is the shower across from the tub.  We tore down a linen closet and made it into a shower so the shower was very very small. At a later date we ...
