Colorado Update!

Hi Friends! I am sorry it has taken so long to update you on the Colorado home!  I really wanted to finish and show you the progression all at one time.  so we have a three week series from start to finish. It definitely is a big change and a totally different look. Remember these pictures of the original townhome we purchased, furniture and all? Although hubby John was thrilled with all the furnishings in the unit, I though it felt dark and a bit claustrophobic. He even loved the torn ...

I Love That Sample!!! Where Will it Go?

I was trying to get a bit ahead of my blog writing and stumbled onto a post I had started in 2011! I had so much fun looking back at how some of our techniques have evolved and especially how my house has changed over the years!! I thought you would too... You've probably heard the old saying that a cobbler doesn't have shoes. Well, that doesn't apply to me. In my case, a finisher definitely has finishes!! If you look at the "My Home" section of this blog, you can see that no space has been ...

My Dining Room Finale!!!

Well, sometimes the first room you start is the last room you finish. This was certainly the case in my dining room! Starting the transformation in 2014, I'm happy to announce it's finally finished!! You got a sneak peek back in December in this post about the artwork I chose, and today I'm so excited to share the completed look! Here's the before! Moving from a traditional look with a Country French flair to a more contemporary style that still incorporates older elements, I was able to ...

Becoming a ‘Blaygeen’ Believer!!

Discovering that perfect shade of neutral "blue" can be rather difficult. My clients are often looking for the ideal blue, gray or green. Not too blue, but a little muddy, sophisticated, but not depressing. I take a deep breath in as they describe their ideal color, and then I recommend what I’ve come to call "blaygeen!" Whether on walls, cabinets, trim or accessories, every design magazine, book and blog seems to be incorporating this elusive but much sought-after shade. It may appear as ...

Tweaking My Living Room!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Well, due to a tropical storm in Cabo, we ended up canceling the trip just hours before!!  Lucky that we didn't go as we had a pipe break in the house and spent much of the time cleaning and drying out. Unfortunately the room below was affected and we will have to once again redo the floors!! Water and wood just don't mix! I had already written this blog, so I still wanted to share the small tweaks I gave to my living room – keeping much of what I ...

At Home with Jennifer Martinez

You’ve probably heard the saying 'a cobbler has no shoes', but in designer Jennifer Martinez’s case, she has a bunch! I have worked with Jennifer on many jobs and always loved her colorful and eclectic style.  I was very excited when I got the call to work on a project in her own home!!! I couldn’t wait for a tour!!! Walking in, you immediately see her whimsical flair. Not the typical composition; the art continuing below the console really creates a statement in her front ...

Joyce Horn Antiques opening party!!

If you haven't heard of Joyce Horn Antiques, the founder Joyce is one of the most long standing French Antique dealers in Houston! Although I knew her before, I really got to know her when I worked with her on the finishes in her home over 12 years ago. Now I am lucky to call her my friend. Her home, as beautiful as her store, features a beautiful French blue tinted sheetrock mud applied to appear as if it had been chipped away to reveal the under layers. Published in Segreto: Secrets to ...
