A House Redone, Part 1!

I don't know if y'all remember Leslie Simmons, my senior designer. I've done blog posts on her past townhouse and her amazing wedding to hubby Charles!!!! If you have time, you should definitely check those out. Leslie and Charles have just purchased their first home, and she was anxious once again to put all that she has learned at Segreto into the renovation. This was the home before! Walking in, there was a small entry that led into a massive room. This shot is from the back of ...

Salvaging A Light Fixture & House Update!

With all the money going out the door with my house renovation, I am really making an effort to try and paint or refurbish my existing pieces as much as I can rather than give away, sell or buy new!!   I bought this chandelier from Joyce Horn Antiques to place in my entryway years ago.  Italian made, it was green and rust colored with bundles of hanging grapes and crystal accents galore; I just had to have it! 15 years later, all the grapes and crystals that I had originally adored ...

Bedroom Update – Time to Move In!

Having started my master bedroom and bathroom renovation seven months ago, you would think that when I was finally told ‘it’s ready’, I would have all of my fabrics, bedding, lighting etc. on stand by to move in! Only the finishes are done!  I started with a light colored plaster and then stenciled a faded champagne leaf design atop to create subtle striping. With time getting away from me, I found myself shopping in the wee hours of the morning for bedding. For those who know me ...

Staircase Renovation & Boutique Labor Day Sale!

You always hear that working for someone in the design business on their own home is the hardest. I’m sure the team on my project feels the same way since I am constantly changing my mind! The day we moved the girls back upstairs I decided to proceed with redoing the staircase. Since it is the only access to their bedrooms and baths, the girls are sleeping in John’s office while John and I are still camping out in the media room.     As you can see, my staircase literally originated 3 feet ...

A House Update!

Well my house is really moving along! With my dream team of Newberry Campa Architects , Goodchild Builders  and architectural consultant Sarah West, my master suite area is really taking shape!!! I found this picture of the master bath when we purchased the house in 1987! Here is how we changed it way back then! What you can't see is the shower across from the tub.  We tore down a linen closet and made it into a shower so the shower was very very small. At a later date we ...

Pool Decking and Coping!!!!

Well the house project continues... This week I had to finalize my pool decking and coping materials. Since my house is lime washed brick that leans to the gray side, I didn’t want the stones to turn creamy or yellow which many do. When I first was looking at inspirations for my pool, I was really drawn to the ones that had a coping detail and grass. The large inset stones into the grass are my favorites!!! I wondered how furniture would set up around them and if it would be hard ...
