Signing & Shopping in Dallas
I spent the last weekend in June in Dallas. With a co-worker and a sister-in-law in tow, I road tripped to the Dallas Market Center for one of my favorite events — shopping at market!
Goodness! It is always so overwhelming to walk in and look at the 15 floors I need to tackle! And this is only one of the three buildings!!
This year I was fortunate to be able to combine the already exciting trip with a book signing at Aidan Gray’s absolutely beautiful showroom!! This is one of two windows that the brilliant staff at Aidan Gray ‘wallpapered’ and ‘carpeted’ in dried moss (sheets of moss glued to foam core boards)! Their windows, inspired by something they saw in Paris, were stunning!!
The fresh roses mixed with moss were beautiful!! While I was there, Aidan Gray’s showroom received the Market’s award for best window display!! The front mirrors were such an interesting shape that I purchased them for the Segreto Boutique!
I loved how the showroom’s new pop of Robin’s egg blue really set off Aidan Gray’s furnishings!! Arriving early for the book signing allowed me to shop for the Segreto Boutique: I selected a few of these wonderful side tables!
Look at these cool galvanized metal shelves on which the lamps are sitting! I could see this idea used in a home to display books or accessories… or in a powder bath with a candle and hand towels!! There are so many creative ideas at Market that go way beyond the merchandise!!
What a wonderful combination of beads and metal! Classic designs, crafted with a new perspective! Look at the caps of the chandeliers; they were also decorated with layers of moss!!
These striking bowls fell on my order list. They are beautiful as art, but I like the idea of filling them with iced-down drinks at parties and/or planting them with paperwhites as a holiday centerpiece!
I loved this bowl set up with capsules that looked like mints! Beware though, instead of tasty treats these are towelettes that expand in warm water for a refreshing hand clean!! This is a must-have for my next party!!!
I had to cut my shopping short as the book signing event was about to begin!! My books were perfectly in place and I was eager to meet all who came by to say hello and flip through the pages!
The book singing was going so well and I was having so much fun meeting such interesting people that I decided to stay there all day! So, off went Segreto’s Cynthia and sister-in-law Susie shop to without me….
They had to stop and take in another charming window!! With a table hanging from ropes and secured by bunches of roses and tree stump stools, it’s like a picnic in an enchanted forest!! I love the napkins tied with floral and the scattered vases wrapped in leaves!!
Anali’s exquisitely embroidered hand towels will make elegant additions to any powder bath!! Look for these at these gift-giving beauties Segreto Boutique!!
Cynthia & Susie picked up some oh-so -fun shagreen cuffs which we have soooooo reasonably priced! What a perfect pop of color for summer dressing!! These were located in the ‘cash and carry’ area, which is a great place for stores to shop without having to place minimum orders.
We met Anita Felix, an extraordinary artist from South Africa who does these lovely, charming paintings of dresses!! We immediately fell in love with Anita and her art, so we now represent her at Segreto Gallery!!
Then it came time to say good-bye and a heart-felt thank you to the great team at Aidan Gray! I am so appreciative of all the wonderful people I met and all of the stores that now carry my Segreto books!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After a whirlwind stay, we checked out of Le Meridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh; it is a charming old building that now houses a boutique hotel! It is quite close to Market!
The lobby was kinda cool, unfortunately we had little time to hang out!
We did make time for breakfast (because it was included in the great package I booked in Expedia!) Not only was the food delicious, but also the elegance of the dripping chandeliers with the over-sized rusted letters made quite a statement!!
Heading back to Houston, we had to make one of my very favorite stops… at Bucee’s! Appropriately, Susie loaded up a big bag with beef and turkey jerky to take home to California!!
Thank you again to all who purchased the book, to my friend followers, and to all of the new subscribers on our Segreto Blog!!!
FYI: Here are links to my previous blogs that mention Aidan Gray — Aidan Gray Living & Segreto Style! and A Visit to Aidan Gray!!!
And I always encourage you to follow me on Pinterest!! Come see us at the Segreto Boutique & Gallery! In addition to my finds at Market, we have amazing corals, geods, crystals, and
these beautiful Selenite Brick Lamps!!
I hope you have a great week!!! Till next Monday!!!

Posted at 10:35h, 13 JulyI love the moss display wall. All your new finds will be loved by your boutique shoppers, I’m sure. One of your books went into a wonderful gift box arrangement, for a charity event, I helped a customer shop for, last week.
Take care, Barbara
