Artist Spotlight-Claire Basler!

Jul 17, 2017

Hi Friends!  I wanted to introduce someone with you whose work I am truly obsessed with.  Her name is Claire Basler. A French floral painter, she resides at Chateau de Beauvoir,  a 13th century castle in France which is art in itself.

Her interpretation of flowers are both realistic and surreal!  She has just come out with a book of her works which I ordered and cherish. I have quotes from her scattered throughout this post on what I would say is truly magical art.

She, like me, loves living with the finishes she creates.   In a passage from her book she shares “Thanks to the painted rooms my house has become a studio again.  I find it amusing that my wish to inhabit my painting has found surfaces here so far exceeding its measure!  I exist in my painting, not with.”

What truly amazes me with her murals is that the real plants blend in seamlessly with her painted ones.  Claire states that she allows herself to let the outside world into the house through her painting which boosts her energy and enthusiasm to paint more.

What an inspiring view she has right out her front door!

The outdoor scenery brought into her home is just as beautiful.  With her murals, full of light and life there is “no question of feeling shut in.  Rather one feels invited to move around in a world that combines the obvious simplicity of nature with a certain sophistication.”

Using natural earth pigments, her floral interpretations come to life.

The romance of her pieces move me, they seem to timelessly capture each flowers innate beauty!

“A painting is a fragment of the world. If one cannot embrace the whole world, at least it is possible to savour brief glimpses of it and capture moments of dazzling intensity. ” – Claire Basler

I hope you enjoyed this view  into the world of Claire Basler.  To learn more about her or purchase one of her books go to her website.  She both inspires and moves me.  I learned when I ordered her book that she had an exhibit in Houston which I missed.  So sad!!   They also hold openings occasionally at Chateau de Beauvoir where you can view her  interiors. Next time in France look her up!!!

Have a great week! Au Revoir!!

This is the best “wallpaper” I have ever seen! I don’t mean to degrade it by any means, it is simply gorgeous painting! I was just thinking, why don’t they make wallpaper look like this! I do love the way it continues over her door also. No wallpaper could do that!

It would be beautiful wall covering but that it is all totally different and nothing the same makes it even more special
