Fun Galveston Beach House Tours – Part I

Jul 18, 2016

With summer upon us, I thought it would be fun to look at some beach houses, and being in Houston, what better place to look for beach interiors than Galveston! The historic city, best known for the catastrophic 1900 hurricane, has been rebuilt several times since and has more than 30 miles of beaches!!!

Segreto Secrets - Galveston Anniversary Trip - Hotel Galvez

John and I recently went down to Galveston as a last-minute getaway for our 29th anniversary!!! We stayed at Hotel Galvez, the historic landmark and treasured beachfront hotel that’s been around since 1911. My grandmother used to stay there!! It’s now owned by Wyndham Hotels, and they’ve done major renovations and added spa facilities in recent years.

Segreto Secrets - Galveston Anniversary Trip - Dinner at Rudy and Paco

We ate at Rudy & Paco, located on the strand, for our anniversary meal – the food was amazing! They specialize in grilled seafood and steak with a South and Central American flavor. I will definitely be back!

Segreto Secrets - Galveston Anniversary Trip - Meiomi Chardonnay

Being a chardonnay lover, I tried Meiomi at dinner and really loved it! It was fun to see that the vineyard is really close to where my husband’s father lives. Perhaps it was the wine, but after I came back from our mini vacation, I searched through lots of the Galveston homes on the market (I always find HAR to be a fun way to look at interiors). I found quite a few gems with a wide range of styles I wanted to share with you. Maybe you can pull a bit of beach décor into your own home’s interiors!

The winding staircase and white walls take on a clean and minimalist style, offering a lovely contrast to the dark floors and ornate accessories.

Even with the 100-degree weather, this fireplace is enticing! And I love the elaborate mirror with the coral and shell border!!! Great way to bring in the beach vibe without sacrificing the Roman style.

The high ceilings and large footprint make this bedroom feel so grand and open. Definitely a room fit for a princess!!

Segreto Secrets - Galveston Beach House - Sleek Modern Bright Living Room

Quite the contrast to the last home we explored, this abode has a posh contemporary style! And if you’re in the market, the furniture is being sold with the house!! The white furry rug, sleek cabinets and leather furniture set a great backdrop for the bright pops of turquoise and green.

The kitchen retains the white walls from the other area, but the brilliant blue island and mosaic backsplash give it such a fun personality! The light fixtures and leathered granite add a touch of an industrial feel.

What lovely homes, but right on the beach!! I lived in Galveston from 1961 through 1964. Survived hurricane Carla. So many homes on the beach were washed away. I would be very apprehensive about building such lovely expensive homes there. But thats me, Have to take some chances in life I guess.
    Love, love love you blog.
