A Beautiful Flower Wall!

Apr 17, 2017

Hi Friends!! I so hope you have had a wonderful week. With Spring time in the air, of course, I think of flowers and maybe a bit of romance!!! When my oh-so-talented finish designer, Andrea, created a giant flower wall for her sister, Erin’s, wedding — I had to share!

Andrea has always loved creating party props ever since her first job working for her next door neighbor, assisting her in developing fabulous centerpieces and props for glittery events.  She helps to create the same wonderful backdrops in our clients homes!!!

So when her sister, Erin, became engaged, Andrea couldn’t wait to help with decorations and to do something unique and stunning to make her day even more special. Here is the big moment when Taylor proposed to Erin!

What a beautiful inspiration rendition she drew!! Erin and her fiance Taylor were both college friends of my son Matthew!! Super small world! They decided to have the reception at Houston Country Club, and worked with event planner extraordinaire Susie Miller. The flower wall was presented and everyone was in love with the idea!! But how was it accomplished?

Experimenting with scale and design and countless hours to get the rose-like feel perfect, the plan was laid-out, and Andrea got to work!

7,500 petals, countless hours cutting and pasting while watching every show on Netflix and some fabulous studio assistants helped bring the project to life!

Andrea’s main focus was to give the wall a lot of depth and a romantic but modern feeling. The variety of the sizes of the flowers and the density of the arrangement were key in creating the look. She wanted it to be a jaw-dropper! I’d say she nailed it…her and her cute mom!!

Here it is, starting to come together! She even enlisted Isai, the multi-talented problem solver and Operations Manager at Segreto, to help with the biggest challenge of all: how to make it stand up on its own!

It made its debut at the HCC presentation ball in November and she tried really hard to keep it a secret, so it would be a surprise at Erin’s wedding…

…but, it was way too hard since the amazing images were Instagrammed and went totally viral!!

As you can see, it proves stunning and artistic as the backdrop for the band.

What a beautiful venue and a stunning backdrop–all handmade-thanks to Andrea!!!!!

I can’t finish without showing you the happy couple and Andrea’s beautiful mom!!

Thank you, Andrea, for sharing this awesome project!

I absolutely love re-purposing and this has to be one of my favorites.  Isai (who you saw hanging the flower wall with Andrea), and his wife Kami, used the flowers as inspiration for their daughter, Charlotte’s, first birthday party! Even the cake was floral-inspired.

She added additional colorful flowers in pink and lavender which she made herself!  Happy Birthday, Charlotte!

Have a great week! And don’t forget to join me at the panel discussion this week at the Decorative Center of Houston! REGISTER HERE

Absolutely breathtaking and such a labor of love!!! The scale is unreal, and this is just the sort of creativity I imagine for my own kids’ weddings…if ever the day comes! 🙂
