The world of finish design is limitless, ever-changing and richly complex. Dressings for walls, ceilings, floors, cabinetry, counters and exteriors are crucial to the embodiment of a home’s character. Segreto’s niche in the world of design inspires their artisans to constantly explore, developing products and treatments that uniquely complements a home’s architecture and interiors.
Our newest invention, SegretoStone is a natural lime based material which hardens to create surfaces sturdy enough for kitchen and bath counters, tub surrounds, dining tables, sinks, fireplaces and outside furniture pieces. Because it starts as a powder and is made into a putty, we can trowel it over many surfaces and then polish it creating a luster that marries well with other elements and transcends the bridge between contemporary, old world and traditional. With 24 signature colors, this surface is more durable than concrete and marble and is easily maintained by reapplying the sealer every year. If it does get damaged it can be spot repaired re-polished and sealed increasing its life and longevity.

Applied directly over sheetrock, many of today’s tinted, plasters can be installed for a fraction of the cost of yesteryear’s conventional lath method. Plasters instantly enhances the ‘bones’ of a house, some subtle enough to use throughout, while others create dramatic statements perfect for a dining space or powder bath. Water-resistant tadelakt plasters are being used to replace tile and stone in showers. Adding such intrigue and ambiance to any room, plaster carries a special appeal, apparent when seen but difficult to explain with words. At Segreto we are well versed in a broad range of different lime based, natural and synthetic plasters, enabling us to select, install and repair the one which is perfect for you.

Not only can these treatments greatly enhance a new construction, but they also can reinvent a home's existing elements at a fraction of the cost of ripping out and building anew.

Today, lime paints and plaster slurries have been brought back to the forefront for both interior and exterior applications. As lime ages, it develops interesting patterns and shadings that bring out the color of the embedded lime. With natural, nontoxic ingredients and a fungicidal effect, the lime covers brick or stone with a coating that absorbs into the masonry without trapping moisture. A wonderful option to totally change brick or stone, lime washing can be done in a way that gives solid, even coverage, or it can be applied more transparently so the tonal variations come through.

As a truly custom finish that can be personalized with special memories and meaningful motifs, few finishes engender as much enchantment or impact as a mural.
