A Home Ready to Give Thanks!

Nov 21, 2016

Hello to all my blog friends! Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I wanted to share a home with you that is decorated and ready to give thanks for one of the most special holidays of the year–Thanksgiving!!

Segreto Secrets Blog!-A Home Ready To Give Thanks!

When I showed up to add a few touches to this home, which was featured in Segreto Style pages 50-59, there were touches of Thanksgiving décor inside and out! I loved this home’s transformation. An older home, it truly showed how finishes and furnishings could give a total update!! I took so many ideas for my own home and I wanted to share how homeowner, Susie, incorporated holiday décor with you.

To give you a sense of her style, and why her holiday decorating fit so well with her interiors, here is a shot of her living room. When Susie redid her home she went from the dark golden tones to ones of soft grays and blues with accents of gold accessories!

Painting all the bright white trim to a softer version blended with the newly plastered walls and ceilings, creating an illusion that her ceilings were higher than 8 ft. I was honored to paint a canvas for her that incorporated all of the rooms tones.

Seeing it again reminded me of how much fun I have painting on canvas!

Sweet Susie always has her table set and this holiday season is no exception!! I fell in love with the gold!!! She had purchased the wine glasses from the Segreto Boutique for last Christmas and used them as inspiration for this years table top décor!

I totally fell in love with the plates! Where did she get them?…Hobby Lobby at a very reasonable price! She said they are sold out in Houston but I am scouring the stores hoping they get more in!!! Thankful, Blessed, Grateful!  It really says it all. This year for me in particular with parents who have passed and caring for others who have fallen ill, I feel so thankful to be a part of their lives, blessed to be raised by them and thankful for the memories I have and the time I have left.

Crate and Barrel has their own version of the thankful plate, which I also adore and had been looking at. Susie bought the same ones for her desert plates.

Although they do have napkins, I liked the dishtowels instead.  I buy dishtowels many times in place of napkins–for some reason they are typically less expensive and I like the larger size! These are 12.95 for a set of two from Crate and Barrel.

She incorporated these tones into all of her accessories!! The glass canisters are wonderful ways to dress a bar.  Easy to change out for different holiday and party décor, snacks always make people feel at home.  Z Gallerie is a great place to shop for tabletop and stemware!

The Avelina Glassware collection is on sale now!!!!

Hydrangeas look great with her theme this year. Arranging grouped items on a tray, wooden bread board or in Susie’s case, a geode slab, gives a more polished feel to your items.

Here she used marble cutting boards!! Use them to add more white to spaces that you may want to brighten up!!!

Following the same concept outside, she did a great job grouping elements together. From the furniture arranged on an indoor-outdoor carpet to the stay with groups of candles!!! I just wanted to sit and take a break!

Making all the arrangements herself, I love the white pumpkins!!! Unlike the traditional orange ones, these definitely say holiday while still going with her color palette!

She loves to garden! Bringing the white into the landscape with her seasonal flowers looked so beautiful with the white pumpkins!

If you are not the best at arranging flowers, I think just the pumpkin grouping looks great!!!

And now how Susie layers her table top!

Susie loves these napkins purchased at Bering’s Hardware. Although they are $20 each, she says they go from the washer to the dryer and back to the table with no ironing!!! The glass chargers keep things light and airy. These were purchased from Macy’s at one of their sales. Looking on their site, it says they are from Jay imports. I have seen these on Amazon as well. Susie says these make amazing wedding gifts! I know I would love a set!

Z Gallerie is an awesome place to pick up decorative placemats–I love the shape of these and the effect they give when layered over a sold mat. I have purchased some solid shagreen square mats that would go perfectly under these from Z Gallerie as well!  Always using a runner, Susie purchased this one from Home Goods and layered candle holders from Pottery Barn. She loves them and sometimes places nuts, still in their shells, on or around the candles. Susie says, “I love to have the breakfast table set every day; something quirky about me.”

Thank you Susie for all your inspiration!! You have inspired me this year to do something different!!! I so hope all of you, my friends, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Take time with all the preparation to truly count the blessings you have! Much Love!!

Thank you Leslie for sharing this beautifully decorated home with us. Who ever does her landscaping is fantastic!
I love the cute plates. I am wondering if you might find out where sh got her flatware? I have been looking for some gold and silver flatware. It is in the last photo. Most of the gold flatware that I see is too modern. This is lovely!
    Happy Thanksgiving! Leslie!

Hi Mary!! I got them at Ballard Design. It was their Sutton Series. I am not sure they sell that series anymore but have some very similar. Happy shopping.
