What’s Segreto Up To?

Dec 04, 2017

Hi Friends!!  I hope you are having a wonderful week.  Grab your coffee or glass of wine while we walk together through some projects which we have just completed. It is fun to see how diverse my week has been!

I always love working with designer Leslie Strauss!  Not only can I remember her name(ha-ha), she has a flair for the soft contemporary and unique!! This dining room will be a showstopper when finished, but it is off to a good start with the built-in wine room, painted wood floors and plastered surfaces!!! I will definitely re-post this room for you when it is completely furnished!!

The powder in the same home makes quite the statement. Look at that mirror–super cool!  Our contribution to the room?  The silver glazed cabinetry!

The inset aged mirrors, bordered with a silver leaf trim detail make quite the impact! A design trend which I love are all the unique shapes customized in today’s cabinetry.  No longer standard built ins, they make a  statement all on their own.

This probably has been one of my most difficult projects to date.  The client had purchased antique French brasserie panels to be installed in a room in their home.  Not having enough to complete the project, new ones  mimicked the historical design of the old and we were challenged to match their original finish and repair the old panels.

How did we do?  Which one is old and which one new?

You know I spy must have been my favorite game growing up!  There are two light plates painted to look like the tile.  Can you find them?

Here is the before of a study in which we recently helped the homeowner in a cosmetic renovation.  Tired of the dark walls and cabinetry she wanted a fresher space that would work well for her and not be too feminine for her husband.

What started the whole idea for her is when she went into Bering’s and saw the renovation we did for their gift shop.  LOVING the table,  she thought it would be her dream desk!!

Glazing the cabinetry in the room we were ready to pick the new rug.  The room was an unusual size so I suggested looking at carpet samples and customizing a bound rug. Although patterns we discussed, we decided to go with a simple wool sisal to keep a clean feel to the room! Look at the cool hardware we picked from Acero Bella!!

Needing two chairs, I found these at Restoration Hardware Modern.  Although the perfect scale and feel, the wait was long and the price a bit steep for what she wanted to spend in the room.

So using these as inspiration she searched the web and found these Dreyfuss arm chairs on Wayfair for a fraction of the price. WOW $333 each!!  Although they look great in white she wanted a pattern and recovered them in a rich navy.

Purchasing the small table and Blakely Bering art piece from Segreto Boutique, her room was really taking shape. The artwork looks great against her newly plastered walls!!

Look how beautiful it looks!!  We took some of the shelves out-less is more- and accessorized , keeping them clean and uncluttered!! The butterfly art piece was from Segreto’s artist Alicia Kolwalski .  When doing your shelves pick a few inspiration colors and stick to the pallet.  here we chose crystal gold and white.  The photographs were printed in black and white.  Daughter Kirby loves art on shelves, and I have to agree–it looks great here.

The homeowner found this Camden Lantern at High Fashion Home for  $479, and ordered the Belgian Slope Arm Slipcovered Chair from Restoration Hardware.  It looks pink here but is really a soft gray.

I hope you enjoyed tagging along with me on my week!!  I had so much fun on all of these projects and I certainly appreciate the trust all of these sweet homeowners have put in me and my fab Segreto team!! Have a wonderful week! Till next time!!

The rug in the photo came for the oriental rug gallery of Texas -at Chimney Rock and Westminster. You can also get them at the Great Rug company on Fondren. Good Luck!!

Wow! I am loving your plaster surfaces! I live in Tulsa and would love to be able to plaster over my existing granite in my powder room. Do you have products you sell for DIY or contractors? I know several in the design/building community here that would be interested in it!

    Love your blog.
    Thanks!
    Crystal
