European Jewel!!
I am so excited to take you on a tour of a home we recently finished!! Other parts of this beauty – not shown below – will be featured in my upcoming book, Segreto Vignettes! Here are some photos from the shoot by Wade Blissard as well as some of my own snaps! Enjoy!
This home, designed by building designer Robert Dame and built by Stonehenge Classic Homes, has a classic European flair with warm woods and rich finishes.
When I met the homeowner, she made it clear that she wanted a home that was elegant yet very inviting and comfortably furnished. Plaster with a hint of texture to it was the perfect application to offset her reclaimed floors by Custom Floors Unlimited and the beautiful arches throughout the house. Unlike many of my clients who are leaning towards the white trend, this homeowner went for a lovely neutral with a warm undertone that was customized to complement the stone.
With all the decisions involved with building the home, it wasn’t until this homeowner moved in that she was ready to turn her attention to the interiors and hired designer Kara Childress! The two made decisions on furnishings and fabrics, taking to heart a comfortable but rich feel in their selections. Falling in love with this chandelier from Janet Wiebe Antiques, I used it for inspiration when I was looking for lighting in my own dining room!!!
Straight back from the entrance is the kitchen, breakfast area and living area. The perimeter of the cabinets were stained to blend with the reclaimed beams and shelving. In this instance, where the center island had a different top than the perimeter stone, we decided to finish the cabinet beneath in a light-toned sand finish to lighten the space and complement the plastered walls and ceilings. Many of the kitchen accessories were from Back Row Home.
Open to the kitchen, this living space invites you to snuggle up with a good book. Although the fabrics are plush, they are all very durable for everyday lounging. Kara is a master at finishing off a space!!! I love how both the coffee table and the fireplace mantel are accessorized! The doors that are to the left of the fireplace lead to the wine room!
Now, this is a wine room reminiscent of a European lodge! The climate-controlled storage is behind the door on the far back left, allowing a space to light a fire and enjoy the room. Notice the stone sink basin in the back creating a bar area!
I love the metal storage for individual wine bottles – they look like art against the stone!!!
Here you can see how it’s stored the same way in the climate-controlled room.
This bar/gameroom/den area is on the other side of the kitchen. Look at the gorgeous design of the reclaimed wood wainscoting!
Mixed with contemporary art, a concrete coffee table and a cow hide rug, this traditional, old-world setting is given a modern feel.
Something I wanted to do in my home is put the towel bars right on the cabinets! This solid concrete counter with a built-in sink created by Gunnells Concrete Designs is the perfect application since the hanging towels don’t interfere with any drawers or doors underneath.
I hope you enjoyed this house tour as much as I enjoyed working on the project! Super nice owner and a dream team to boot!!!
My Latest Obsessions at the Boutique!!!
Maybe it’s the wonderful spring air, but lately I’ve been smitten with fragrances! And I love, love, love this one housed in a marble box!
We also got in some new Sicilian candles and room sprays that are just to die for!!! Plus sophisticated gold picture frames I absolutely adore!
Have a great week!!! Till next week!

Posted at 15:20h, 28 MarchMy mouth is still open after viewing this elegant meets rustic, european beauty! And the finishes… gorgeous! I installed our towel bar directly into our cabinetry several years ago and love the ease of convenience of the hand towel that always looks polished, instead of just tossed here and there. Hope you had a lovely Easter! Thank you for showing your gorgeous work! xx Rié
