What’s Segreto Been Up To?!

May 01, 2017

Hello My Blog Friends!  I hope you have all had a wonderful week! I wanted to catch you up on some projects that I have been working on!

This home is truly one of my favorites!  And good news!  The sweet homeowner has allowed me to professionally photograph the entire home! So.. I am just go to show you a few of my quick snaps to get you as excited as me to see the whole home when shot by an expert.  This house was very traditional to start!  By plastering, refinishing the floors in a lighter more natural appearance and building in beautiful reclaimed elements like these doors from Chateau Domingue, the furnishings and art take on a whole new perspective.

Remember this ceiling!!!  I was so excited for this home to be published in Veranda! This beauty, set on the beach in California, incorporates reclaimed surfaces that give it an authentic European feel. It’s almost as if a Villa was transported to the west coast shores! Led by my sweet friend Ohara Davies- Gaetano, , California designer – extraordinaire, this project was truly a joy for me to consult on!  Well the home above and below is from the same talented lady!!

Close your eyes and try to picture the before.  Stained wood beams and doors, dark floors and heavy faux finished walls. The ceiling insets were a copper metallic!

Ok now open-a totally new home!!  Loving her work, I have written many posts about Ohara.  You can read more here ,here and here.

I love making wood look old and reclaimed!  This incredible ceiling was built in a renovated den area. The design team wanted the beams to feel richer than the planked ceiling pulling in some of the deeper tones of the cabinetry.

It was determined the flat planking would be lighter to set off the design which the beams created in the space. The top two are pictures we took during the sampling process.

What do you think? I really love the architectural interest it adds to the space! In talking to Cameron from AP Builders  installing these beams was not an easy task. Because the space was existing and not totally symmetrical-each beam had to be templated and custom milled to fit.

Things really seem to be going more modern in today’s design.  I love mixing the old with the new so in this rendering for a powder bath we were working on with designer Annie Sumang.  We stenciled a design over plaster and then embellished it with gold leafing and hand-painted accents!!

This is how the flower looks with the gold leafing only!!  I like it this was as well!  Goodness I want this in my house but I have no more walls left to paint–So sad!

Dramatic is what Trisha McGaw wanted for this powder bath!  Plastered in a rich color pulling the darkest veining of the marble, we painted a geometric overlay in a pearl metallic paint and then waxed the room!!  I can’t wait to see what mirror they choose!!!

In the same home we installed one of our new tables from our  SegretoStone line.  I  have been meaning to write a blog on it to share more but in the mean time wanted to show our latest installation.  You  finally get to meet my Lucite Guy, above shown with one of his craftsman who fabricated the bases.  My daughter Kirby who heads up our new furniture line and Designer Tricia McGaw really did an amazing job with the table’s design! Trisha and Kirby are in the background making sure these beautiful custom bases are exactly in the right position before the 1000 lb top is set.  Look at Kirby–she is biting her nails!! I think I might have been too!

This table,  11 ft long is made from our new plaster product. More durable than concrete or marble it has its own luster which has a natural but sleek aesthetic. From our team crew leader Isai, Taylor,  Sergio,  then Jorge and his craftsman plus 8 super strong guys from Nice Moves(and they are really nice) carried this in from the street to its new location!!

You can see that the guys are taking a break while we are making sure everything is centered and perfectly set in the room.

I can’t wait to see the chairs and furnishing they pair with their new SegretoStone table!!  Although this is a dramatic gray, we have developed 32 signatures colors to date–from peacock blue to blush pink!

New to us we are working on sealers which will repel even lemon juice or red wine!!

We currently have been installing this product for side tables, desks, coffee tables, outdoor furniture and kitchen counters!!  This counter is 17 ft long and seamless. Created for designer Elizabeth Garrett and Cupid Custom homes–it will be in a Lux showcase.

Here are Elizabeth and Kirby at the big preview party with Luxe Magazine sitting on the counter! Matt Reily from Down Pour Web Design sent me this super cute pic!!  We will feature an entire blog on the home–It is amazing so keep on following along!

Exciting news!!!  I am going back to my homes state of Georgia for a books signing!! I hope if you will help me spread the word if you know anyone close by.  It will be Mother’s Day weekend so my two girls are going with me and we are going to have a mini family reunion with my Georgia clan! Super fun!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!  Till next time!!
