Our Thanksgiving Getaway!
I had recipes and tablescapes already planned for the annual Thanksgiving at our home when I found out from my kids that the only time they could all get off this year is Thanksgiving! Breaking the news to my parents, brother, sister, niece and nephew, I started planning a last minute vacation for the five of us.
My family loves the beach, and, with limited time to spend, we wanted to try a new destination that was less than three hours away and had beautiful water.
I have a lot of friends who rave about Cabos San Lucas, and my daughter Kirby recently went for wedding and said it was beautiful! Even my husband John who grew up in L.A. hadn’t been!
After some internet research, I booked a room at The Resort At Pedregal.
They have beautiful rooms large enough to have our whole family in one place… and I fell in love with the views!!!
I am really not a spa person, but if I were, this looks so peaceful!!!!
Although there are many restaurants in house and a kitchenette in the room, the resort is walking distance to the town, giving us lots of options and nightlife close by for my twenty-something kids! They even host cooking classes, which I think would be fun to do with the fam!!! I can’t wait to tell you all about the trip!
What I would have made if I were here!
This recipe from Flour Arrangements is so pretty and seems like it isn’t too difficult to make!! Pale orange in hue with pecan slivers for stems, these tender, subtly-spiced Pumpkin Rolls look perfect for a Thanksgiving feast!!
Anything mini looks great on a plate. These gratins may be small, but I bet they’d be big on taste with lots of fresh herbs, orange zest and, of course, butter and brown sugar. Let me know how this recipe is from Floating Kitchen. It looks delish!!!!
I was drawn to both the wonderful fall colors in this dish and the recipe itself!! Healthy and easy to make, it would be beautiful next to a Thanksgiving turkey!
Setting the Table!!!
Here are a few shots of my Thanksgiving tables of past years! I used pretty much the same dishware but altered the centerpieces and how the napkins and place cards were displayed! In 2014, I had found those pumpkin-like vases and mixed candles, pumpkins, fruit, vegetables and some boxwood from my yard.
We sold the burlap bags in the store last year, and they made such fun pockets for the silverware!
In 2013 ,my daughter brought some sunflowers home. Mixed with pumpkins and pinecones, they made stunning centerpieces!!!
Using rolls of vintage paper, sold at our shop, I ran it down the center of the table. Kirby designed the place card napkin rings, and we all pitched in to help make them!
This year, for my newly finished dining room, I was wanting to do something different! Mixing golds and purples with natural elements would really go well with the decor! I love this one from Lauren Conrad!
Easy to make, I thought these gold-leafed pumpkin place cards from Country Living would add the right touch of gold! For more Thanksgiving decorating ideas like this one, check out my previous post, A Day for Thanks!
I wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving full of laughter and good times!!! I am so grateful for you, my blog friends, and hope you have a great week surrounded by loved ones. See you next Monday!
