Segreto’s Organization Challenge – Reader Submissions!
Last week we hosted Segreto’s very first Organization Challenge! Seven amazing blogs came together to share their projects – everything from pantries to closets, offices to master bathrooms! If you haven’t had the chance to see them yet, visit our previous blog here, they were all so great! Today we have submissions from our wonderful readers on their own organization makeovers!!! Below we have four of our favorites to share!! Enjoy these inspiring spaces!
Teresa’s Pantry Makeover!!!
Before, Teresa’s Pantry was a large space fitted out with loads of built-in shelving but it lacked the style and organization she so strongly desired!
After clearing out the contents of the space, Teresa chose a roll of wallpaper with a blush pink background and contrasting trellis pattern to cover the walls. It could also be stenciled!! A quart of crisp white paint freshened up the shelves and further brightened up the pantry!
An area of shelves were used to store larger appliances such as the food processor and crock pot, ensuring the small accessories that go with each don’t get lost in the shuffle. A small table lamp lights adds a sweet, homey touch to a dark corner!
Teresa organized each shelf by fresh and canned goods, using glass and plastic containers to easily view each item. Perfect for storing the large mixer, an entire shelf for baking included glass jars filled with easy to access basics like flour and sugar! I love the use of wicker baskets to both group and hide away particular items!! Such an beautiful pantry makeover, I am thrilled Teresa shared!
Maureen’s Pantry Redo!!!
Maureen’s pantry measured in at a slight 40 inches wide to 6 feet long. Her goal was to better utilize the existing built in shelving while, at the same time, creating a coffee station for her caffeine loving husband! After sorting through what she wished to keep and what could be thrown away, Maureen grouped her pantry items, and what could be stored away for seasonal use like her holiday dishes.
Next, she painted the walls and shelving and applied a faux granite treatment to the counter top. Look how great the finish looks!! Great job!!
Unbelievably, her baskets were made by decoupaging images to the front of a box and then labeling them with a descriptive tag. I can’t believe how realistic they look! If you look below the baskets, a small tension rod allows for trash bags and paper towels to come off the floor and remain easily at reach – genius!
This wall mounted dispenser makes a cute and fun way to store snacks, candy or coffee!
An estate sale provided the perfect hanging rack for her copper collection …
…..while a handmade skirt hides boxes below. Maureen also converted an antique toaster into an adorable lamp! Completing the look is a hand-painted cafe’ sign displayed in the coffee nook! Such an incredible DIY don’t you think?!
Ashley’s Dream Office!!!
A cozy yet small room, Ashley had big plans when it came to her home office space which had become a glorified catch all. Not an ideal place to focus, Ashley used The Segreto Organization Challenge as an opportunity to spruce up!
Her first step was to draw the shelves on a sheet of paper and label all of the items she wished to have on display. A great tip, this method allowed Ashely to see in her mind how the room would look put together!
She felt choosing fun and stylish organizational items would make her excited to complete her project. The file stands from Office Depot were purchased to hold the chic black gold and white folders from Kate Spade. Marshall’s / Home Goods provided the cute to-do lists and decorative boxes perfect for storing miscellaneous items!
Lined with decorative tissue, even the desk drawers are ready and waiting for use!
A place for everything, each shelf is now organized according to purpose and office necessities kept within reach. After, Ashely’s home office is now both functional and beautiful!
Leslie’s New Pantry!!!
Following the purchase of a new home, Leslie wanted to leave the clutter behind and create an organized pantry!
She used a page from Segreto Style as inspiration and set out to create a similar pantry of her very own!!
Leslie purchased rattan baskets from Michael’s in various sizes along with chalk tags and markers to label them. Not tall, she chose to use the higher levels for storing the less often used entertaining-ware and the lower levels for food and everyday supplies.
Finding these Good Grips stackable containers at Bering’s Hardware, she filled them with her dry goods. I will have to get these–no more stale cereal or crackers!
By grouping items according to how you use them, such as sugar and flour or doggy treats, it is easier to find items and keep the space organized!!
A need to reach the high shelves led Leslie to a fun stool DIY! Using an old foot stool and a can of silver Hammerite spray paint (found at most local hardware stores). Leslie created a perfect little step there to give her a boost when she needs it! Doesn’t the metallic finish look perfect with those slate floors?!
After, the pantry looks amazing with all of the baskets and pretty storage solutions lining the shelves!
So inspired by the vanity organization completed by Tina of The Enchanted Home, Leslie also took the opportunity to begin organizing her vanity counter top! I love Leslie’s use of the vintage mirror propped for use on a book stand. So cute!
A Big THANK YOU to Teresa, Maureen, Ashley and Leslie!!! They definitely inspired me to keep on organizing!!!
A Great Event!!! Next weekend, Cuatro Houston will be hosting a talk (by me) about how finishes can transform a home! Bring your questions and your color samples or fabrics, as I am happy to answer questions!! I’ll be there from 12pm to 3pm with both books! It will be fun, I can’t wait to see you there!!
