Accessorizing Your Kitchen!!
What makes those rooms from the magazines look so amazing! Many have beautiful furnishings, surfaces and lighting, but its the final accessories which put them in the over the top beautiful category!! Kitchens are no exception!!
Look at this one from my kitchen Pinterest board, with its pretty white serving bowls, stainless cookware and a bit of green to offer contrast.
All chopping boards are both functional and beautiful accents to a kitchen!!! I found this beautiful pic on one of my favorite blogs Hello Lovely! she has a lot of great kitchens in this post!
I likes how the box contained these chopping blocks looking both collected and organized!! But I didn’t want to go rustic on the base!
So…..after searching the web, one of my favorite ways to shop, I found that Williams-Sonoma had the best collection of marble accessories!
I found this marble box and the pedestal chopping block and purchased them both!
Here is my version. I filled the marble tray with it with chopping blocks both from Williams-Sonoma and our Segreto Boutique. Adding old salt and pepper shakers and these cute little French yogurt cups I scored at Back Row Antiques, I was good to go!! I really have used the cutting boards and love the easy access of not having to reach in the cabinet!!
It was my daughter Kirby’s idea to get some pretty olive oil bottles to put on the chopping block. I found a great selection at Willians-Sonoma! One stop shopping–I like that!!!
Trader Joe’s has a wide range of succulents which I planted in a yogurt cup. Wanting to pull in a bit of gold from the hood, I picked up these gold utensils at West Elm.
Filling my ceramic basket with French bread gave this side of the kitchen a bit of warmth! For some reason it has stayed mold free so is still in place. Guess its good not to go clean eating when using it for display–those preservatives are paying off! I have been in love with this Katie Brisco line ever since we started carrying it in the Segreto Boutique! Plated in gold it feels like jewelry to me and is actually inspired by her gold cuff line! Everyone needs a little glam, even in the kitchen!
I love the cake platters, with glass tops! I wanted a white base but there are many glass options as well! The cake was yum, but it didn’t last long after the photo-shoot! I now fill it with bagels and muffins and surprisingly, they stay so fresh!
Even the type of soap can add!
And to the bar! But where do you go to shop? Saturdays and Sundays are my only days, so I headed back to Back Row Antiques, because I remembered I had spied some antique barware! I adored this French antique collection of decanters. This fab tray I found at Mecox (notice the crystal on the handle-love!). I still wanted a bit of gold so I purchased this gold pedestal from our shop!! The early marriage glasses worked just fine.
I bought this little cheese tray made from solid quartz with gold leaf edges from Rablabs. Loving them so much we will now be caring them at Segreto!! They have coasters, boxes and more as well–the natural quartz is just stunning!!
My table had to be just as styled as the kitchen! Although cooking isn’t my thing! I love to set a pretty table!!!
My design assistant Andrea, gave me a great tip. Use scotch tape to create a criss-cross pattern on the top of your bowl. Then it is easier to make the flowers stay upright! Thanks Andrea-it made a world of difference!
Buying all of my flowers at Trader Joe’s- great prices- over the weekend, some needed to be perked up. The Hydrangeas are fed by putting the flowers upside down in warm water. Let them soak for a couple of hours then place in container. They will come back to life in 3-4 hours!!
I always like to layer chargers with dishware in a mix and match fashion. Using my formal china mixed with my causal dishes, the gold tumblers and these wonderful napkin rings with quartz tops were purchased from my shop. My creative one daughter Kirby makes the napkin rings!
Some great kitchen accessories I didn’t use!!
If you are going to leave all your appliances out then use beautiful ones like these Smeg ones, and keep them all the same finish!!!
If I had room for this wonderful brass island I would have used it for sure!!! I wish I had two more feet of width in my kitchen!!!
I love this Brass paper towel holder found on Etsy!
Like containers are wonderful ways to house utensils in an easy to access beautiful way!!!
I also thought Sur la Table had some great items to choose from!!!! I hope you were able to get some tips and would love to see your kitchen accessories, leslie@segretofinishes.com! Till next week!
