Segreto’s Designer Spotlight-Sarah Eilers!

Oct 23, 2017

Hi Friends! I hope you all have had a wonderful week.  I was working on posting pictures of homes we have worked in which I haven’t shared yet and I spied this beautiful home by designer Sarah Eilers so I decided to introduce her to you!

Sarah who is a traditionalist a heart, was a perfect choice for homeowner Jamie who wanted a timeless interior with a warm French influence.  Being an accomplished cook, it is no wonder the first colors we picked  were for her kitchen cabinetry. This blue inspiration story began with the wonderful painted tile which Sarah picked as a focal element under the range. Blue is the most loved color of both men and women. You can read about it here in a post I wrote on all about blue!

I was so excited to see this home recently published in Luxe magazine.  Glazing the blue cabinetry created a furniture feel in this space which was a crucial element in this kitchen which opened up to the breakfast room and den. I love the chairs two toned effect-the seats extremely durable for all of those grandkids visits.  Sarah, being a mother of 3 with a recent new grandbaby, always considers both functionality and beauty!

Here is the dining room in the same home!  I was thrilled when it made the cover. Congrats to Sarah and her team and to  Houston Photographer Julie Soefer . This photo really shows the soft neutral tone of the plaster (influenced by the rug) as a beautiful backdrop to the art and furnishings.

Notice how well Sarah combines both old and new. In the dining room the mix of an abstract art piece, with traditional furnishings, creates a classic but current feel.  Her vignette in the entry hall with its offset contemporary art and traditional console hints of the interesting elements scattered throughout the home.

One of my favorite rooms is the study which is across the entry hall from the dining room. A dual purpose room, it acts as both a place to work and a cozy reading and visiting place.

Inviting?  Cheerful? Warm?  I would say so!  Notice on either side of the fireplace that panels of mirrors were installed in the niches-enlarging the space and providing an interesting backdrop to the vignettes in front. Awesome idea Sarah!

One of my favorite applications of lighting-these measurements needed to be picture perfect to insure these custom fixtures from Urban Electric hit right at the exact place. I’m sure builder Karl Hanson was biting his nails when he hung this one.

The upstairs master suite is peaceful! The soothing plaster with a hint of blue envelopes the space and textually balances the lush, soft fabrics and comfortable furnishings that Sarah is known for.

The master bath filled with crystal and crisp marbles, has a beautiful barrel vault and……

a beautiful mosaic in the shower which acts as a feature art wall to the space.

With no space untouched, this playroom/grandkid playroom offers areas for sleeping, crafts, play stations and just hanging out and watching TV. I want to join in for her next play date!!!

And now the outside!!

From the front yard to the back…..

…….this is a beautiful place to enjoy and entertain.

I love all the collections which Sarah has creatively displayed.  These antique garden tools, become art pieces when displayed together on these custom bases.  What do you have at your own home that you could showcase, creating personal and interesting accessories or wall groupings?  Thank you Sarah, Jamie and the K&C Classic homes for trusting me to provide finishes for such a beautiful warm and lovely home!!!

Sarah Eilers

Here is cute Sarah who graduated from the University of Texas (that’s where I went) with a design degree. She is a founding partner of the award winning design firm Lucas Eilers. I love her not only for her talent, but for her warm, easy going personality and her professional team approach that ensures her projects stay on schedule and within budget. You should check out the firms portfolio and blog! I think you will see several projects from Sarah and partner Sandy Lucas, which are featured in the Segreto Book Series!!

Thanks for following me through so many of the projects I work on.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you–all my blog friends!  Cheers and have a wonderful week!

Oh how I LOVE your work! I am so glad I’ve found your blog! Thank you for sharing this home. Our home is very similar to this, as it is traditional timeless with a bit of French accent. Is there a way you could tell me what pendant lights those are over the kitchen island? I can’t tell if it says on the photos or not because the print is so small. Also, is that marble honed in the kitchen? My kitchen looks so much like this one and I NEED those pendants! I have some now but they are too wide, these in the photo look slimmer. Thank you. I love reading your posts! Everything is so elegant, timeless and classy.
